I accepted the challenge of finding the One who may be recognized even by Gnostics and atheists: the Existence itself, “All-That-Is.” If something is there, that is God. Look at the book “Christianity Reformed From ist Roots - A life centered in God” (Amazon.com). I am confident that some of your friends will be relieved of the illusion, as I did myself. I personally know and was/am close to several cancer victims and a few survivors (though my list of survivors is decreasing quite rapidly, unfortunately). Also, many of my very, very good friends have close family members who have either lost their battle to cancer or are fighting hard. The pain from walking, as you have said, is moot in comparison to the pain that the victims themselves as well as the family and friends of the victims must go through. I want to correct one point. The Relay actually had 78 teams and raised $187,000+ (and money is still coming in and will be through mid-August, so the Relay is expected to raise at least $193,000). They announced the final total at the closing ceremony (which VERY few people stay for, unfortunately). To those who question the point of walking, stay for the Ceremony of Hope. Stay for the Fight Back ceremony. Walk the track and visit other teams, like Mr. Dan said. The Relay is truly beyond words. Though perhaps it means more to people who have been more closely touched with cancer, I still hope everyone had an enjoyable experience. The Relay is about remembering those who've lost their battle, fighting back for the current survivors, and celebrating life while you are still able. Mr. Dan, I couldn’t agree more.
